平和都市宣言

令和元年6月24日に開催された令和元年6月議会において、「東郷町平和都市宣言」が全会一致で可決されました。

この宣言は、戦争が二度と繰り返されることがないよう、平和の大切さを次世代に継承していくとともに、恒久平和の実現に向けて努力していく意思を示したものです。

町では、これまで「平和祈念式」などの平和事業に取り組んできましたが、今後も町民の皆様と一体となって平和の尊さを認識し、平和に対する意識の高揚を図ってまいります。  

   世界の恒久平和は、人類共通の願いです。

しかし、世界各地では、今もなお、戦争や武力紛争、テロ行為、核兵器の保有などにより、人々の尊い命と平和な暮らしが脅かされています。

世界で唯一の核兵器による被爆国として、二度とあの悲惨な戦争の歴史を繰り返すことのないよう、わたしたちは、平和の大切さを、未来を担う世代に継承していく責任があります。

昭和から平成、そして、令和へと時代が移りゆく今、東郷町は、平和の誓いを新たにし、ここに、恒久平和の実現に努力する「平和都市」であることを宣言します。

Peace Town Declaration of Togo Town

An eternal world peace is the hope that we human being have in common.

Not a few people in the world, however, are still threatened of their precious life or peaceful daily living at this very moment, because of wars, armed conflicts, terrorist acts, and possessions of nuclear weapons.

As the only nation in the world to have experienced nuclear weapons, we are obliged to convey the importance of peace to the next generation, who creates our future, so that we will never ever repeat our tragic history of the wars.

Today, when the Japanese imperial era is changing from Showa to Heisei, then now to Reiwa, we, as the town of Togo, will renew our commitment for peace, strengthen our determination to strive for the eternal world peace, and hereby declare ourselves as being a “Peace Town.”
