Seismic intensity (SINDO)(震度)
The seismic intensity scale is a measure used in Japan to indicate the strength of the shock that you feel. It is measured in unites of “SINDO”. The seismic intensity (SINDO) runs from 0 to 7, and 7 is the strongest level of intensity.
What happens if earthquakes of the following seismic intensity (SINDO) occur?
”Sindo” from 0 to 3 |
Occurs frequently in Japan, hanging objects such as lamps swing slightly |
---|---|
”Sindo” from 4 to 5 |
Hanging objects swing violently, unfixed furniture moves and falls. Many people are considerably frightened and find it difficult to move. |
”Sindo” from 6 to 7 |
Most heavy and unfixed furniture moves and falls, occasionally, less earthquake-resistant buildings collapse. It is very difficult to keep standing and to move without crawling. Walls and windows will be broken. |
各地の地震の揺れの大きさ。数字が大きいほど大きな地震です。
日本では震度0~3は何度かあります。震度4~5は家具などが倒れ危険です。
震度6~7は家などが倒れ、大規模災害となります。
